Deb McKay
More about Deb
I’m Deb McKay, a Highly Accomplished Teacher with over 25 years of experience as a primary classroom educator. Alongside my teaching career, I’ve taught in the Master of Teaching program at UniSA and hold a Master of Education in Cognitive Psychology and Educational Practice.
My passion for high-impact teaching practices led me into leadership roles, where I’ve presented at conferences and facilitated workshops for schools and educational associations, helping educators translate research into effective classroom practice. Currently, I serve as the Assistant Head of Curriculum and Learning at St Columba College, where I take great joy in supporting teachers and students on their educational journeys.
The process of attaining my HAT accreditation was invaluable, offering deep reflection on my practice and holding me accountable to the standards of excellence. As a member of the SA HALT Network committee, I’m privileged to collaborate with and be inspired by dedicated educators while supporting others on their accreditation journey.
Outside of education, I’m a wife and mum to three young adults. I love op-shopping, café hopping, reading, baking, catching up with friends, and listening to podcasts.
