More about Cathy
My name is Cathy Cook, and I have 34 years of dedicated public education experience. I am a passionate educator at Marryatville Primary School. I'm thrilled to join the SA HALT Network committee after my connection in 2023, having achieved my Lead National Certification, marking a significant milestone in my career.
I have cultivated a deep passion for mentoring pre-service and Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and I am also the ECT Lead Mentor for my portfolio.
I'm also passionate about strengthening understanding and awareness of neurodiversity. As my site's Autism Inclusion Teacher, I work collaboratively with staff, students, and families, providing tailored strategies and support to create inclusive and engaging learning environments.
I enjoy presenting in diverse forums and have shared my expertise and insights statewide and nationally. My presentations focus on fostering inclusive practices, building teacher capacity, and advocating for neurodiversity in education. I have also mentored and assisted at Aspiring HALT Writer Workshops and presented at a ShareSpace session at the SA HALT Network conference in 2023.
I pride myself on being hardworking, organised, and a lifelong learner, continually striving to improve educational practices. My commitment to collaboration and sharing my passion for teaching drives me to support others in their professional growth. Therefore, I am excited to contribute further to the SA HALT Network, promoting excellence and innovation in education.
