More about Rebecca
Teaching has always been my passion since I entered the classroom in the late 90’s, training as an Early Childhood teacher. I have always believed that the formative years in education are crucial, as they provide the strong foundations upon which children’s futures are built. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching in a diverse range of educational settings, including South Australian country Kindergartens, primary schools in London (UK), and both Catholic and Independent schools in Adelaide. I have recently been appointed as Deputy Principal – Teaching and Learning at Portside Christian College. Prior to this, I held the position of Head of Teacher Development and Accreditation at Seymour College, where I had the opportunity to support and inspire my colleagues to grow professionally.
In 2017, I achieved certification as a Highly Accomplished Teacher, which I successfully renewed in 2022. Since earning this certification, I have further expanded my expertise by training as a HALT Assessor and an Initial Teacher Education assessor with the Teacher’s Registration Board. These experiences have allowed me to reflect on and strengthen my own professional practice while also mentoring, guiding, and encouraging colleagues at various stages of their careers—from preservice teachers to experienced practitioners—as they embark on their own professional learning journeys.
This year, I am pleased to be a part of the South Australian HALT committee, where I am passionate about fostering joy and growth throughout the certification process and supporting all members on their path toward professional excellence.
