More about Angela
Hi everyone, I am Ange Phillips and I migrated from Yorkshire (UK) in 2012. I am a senior school Maths teacher with over 20 years experience. I started my career in Bradford (UK) and worked in an inner-city ‘special measures’ school in before migrating to Australia – I loved every minute of it. I have been really lucky and left a job I loved in the UK to find one I love just as much in SA.
Since migrating I have been working at Westminster School, where I have had the opportunity to work part time, be the Curriculum Leader of Mathematics, the Pedagogy Coach, and the Head of Pedagogy and Digital Delivery. I am currently the Director of Teaching.
I was Westminster first HALT, gaining Lead Teacher status at the beginning of 2020. I have been leading the HALT program at Westminster, where we have gone from zero HALT’s in 2019 to 16 at the beginning of 2025 – with more on the way. I am really passionate about improving the educational outcomes for our students and working with my colleagues to help us all to contunially grow and improve.
Someone once said to me that you should work like a captain and play like a pirate, which I love. I think it is really important to have balance and in my spare time I am either rowing a surfboat, prancing about at F45, perstering my long suffering husband to do some DIY or drinking wine with my family and friends. I am really excited to be part of the SA HALT Network and I am looking forward to working with you all!
